For $16 a tyre, Beaurepaires will sell you a lifetime tyre warranty against punctures and staking etc. I took this out when I bought some Goodyear Silent Armours last month because we had a
Madigan Line trip happening.
Well the obvious happened and I staked one of the new tyres. I plugged it and finished the trip. Took it back to Beaurepaires today and they are replacing it with a new one.
Seems like a good deal so far..........

We had 2 traytop LandCruisers with the 265/75R16 Silent Armours.
We were in rough country running 15-20psi.
I didn't need to lower pressures as much as I did with MTRs.
Did 5000k including stony roads in SA and Qld. Staked one sidewall. No sign of any chipping.
Fuel consumption was a touch better than when I was running MTRs.
They ride nicely on the gravel. But I reckon they'd slip around in the mud.
I need to do another 40-50,000km and another 10 trips to give you a better report!!!!
Cheers

All hail; the weary traveller(s) have returned!
No doubt you'll be sending a trip report to Andrew Hiscock at 4WD-ing SA on-line magazine, so we can see the photos as
well ?????????????
Cheers, Phil
(woe is me..... stuck here in suburbia, but while you were out..........I did a 4 day trip to
Merna Mora, leading 3 other 4 x 4's. Bush camped.........hell, it's dry up there.......We drove the Bunbinyunna trail + the
Heritage trail. Both easy, pleasant excursions, great scenery. Can recommend for a 'quickie')

Hi Rick,
We spent a night up near
Balcanoona on the way back - we thought the Flinders looked lush compared to western Qld - dry as a chip up there!
I did a
Madigan Line article for 4wheelingSA before, so wasn't going to do another one this time, but its possible that our trip may appear in a glossy mag - but that wouldn't happen for ages.
I'll have to try
Merna Mora - nearly called in last year, but weather prevented us doing it. Have to find a "long" weekend.
Cheers

Hi Phil,
What was the total number of punctures for the trip on your group?

Gday Stan,
Good to see you're back from the
Madigan line!!! We need a report on how it all went.
Punctures:
4 vehicles that did the lot:
Patrol with MTR: zero
Troopie with MTR: one minor staking
105series BFGATKO: zero
Prado with Kellys AWR: 3 staked
2 vehicles that did the
Hay, and half the
Madigan Line:
both 79series both with Silent Armour: 1 staked
So I guess thats a total of 5. The Troopie also had a fatigued tube with his split rims.
Let us all know how you got on.
Cheers
phil
