On my pajero I have factory fitted roof rails with a max capacity of 60kg(not much good when roof rack weighs half that) Does anyone know whether by removing these rails and directly mounting the rack to the same mounting location whether this will increase the load capacity. Mitsubishi will not comment as the roof rack is not factory genuine.

You cannot use factory mounting at all if your travelling on bad roads, it will put holes in your roof.
If the roof rails can be removed, then you can have the rhino track mounted which is bolted and riveted (about $250-275 fitted).
