Hi, Keep hearing rumours that a new turbo diesel engine is coming out in the Prado. The current one is certianly outdated compared to Pajero and Pathfinder but overall package is good.

Must be someone out there in Tojo land who can tell us all what is happening and when.

Heading north in 3 weeks but who is counting

Outback,
I am going through the process of buying a Prado at the moment. Have got quotes from two different companies. The local Cairns dealer told me the new diesel comes out in around September/ October. The Mackay dealer told me about the same. Apparently there is already a large waiting list......or so the salesmen said.

Cheers
Dave

We bought a petrol one on the weekend after I decided I couldn't put up with the TD on a day-to-day basis (just to slow and rattly for me). The 'salesman' didn't know about a new TD at all when queried. Thought it was on the cards but no idea when. Surprisingly this was before he thought he had a chance to sell us a Petrol.

Well known South East Qld Yota dealer says December, but I saw something from a reputable source the other day saying end July / August. Have been trying to find it, will post if I do.

Cheers.

wouldn't it be the one from the new hilux, seeing they are basically the same chassies? maybe just a bit of a power up grade

It would make sense as they stole the older 3.0LTD for the hilux from the prado/surf... Hmmmm, there's an idea if the old surf ever gives up the ghost, transplant a D4D into it! ;-) LOL
