Just wondering if anyone has been to Sundown NP via
Ballandean. I'm heading there soon and I heard the track into the
park was pretty good for 4WD.

Hi BB
We went there a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Rough rocky access road in that takes a few hours to the western end with a spacious grassed area for
camping. From there you can go to Rats Castle. You may have to ford the river to get there but it is a great introduction to some challenging 4WDing. Best 4WD national
park in SEQld.
Take good maps though and enjoy. High wheel clearance needed.
Cheers

Hi Bag Boy
I was there last January and did the complete circuit with no problems in my FZJ105R. The Pajero with me did a bit of damage to his side steps and scrabbled a bit on some of the steeper tracks, but he only had road tyres.
The road in from
Ballandean was good dirt road and it didn't get rough until we were
well into the
park. Mostly it was dug out from vehicles not lowering their tyre pressure and/or towing trailers (according to the rangers).
We needed to pick our track pretty carefully in
places, but it was all do-able and enjoyable.
Lots of good
camping areas, some with pit
toilets.
Have fun

Hi Bag Boy
The
park is excellent for good rough 4wding (if that is what you are looking for) especially into Burrow's
Waterhole and beyond. There are only pit
toilets at Burrow's. Take everything you need in and out. Get info on the weather from the locals too before you go in, if it rains you could find yourself staying there a day or two longer! Have fun, it is a great place to go. Also remember to take extra warm things, it can get cold there.
