Interested in road conditions into Lawn Hill, best road, and whether a long wheel base Merecedes Sprinter would get in. Low ground clearance 200mm on 4 M base with a 1.5M overhand. Thanks, Solly

Hi Solly

As DJ said, drive to the conditions and you'll be right. If the road has been graded (it's well maintained for the mine traffic) you'll hardly notice but the road after the mine heading to Adels & NP usually is not so well kept, but it's quite good in most places. Also watchout for bulldust patches that can occur. I have seen ordinary cars and caravans in Adels and the NP. Make sure you have a few days there, it's such a relaxing place!

We have just come from there - are sitting in the library in Normanton now. You should have no trouble getting in there. We saw falcons and even a ford laser in there last week and the road is in good nick. We stayed at the National Park- not Adele's Grove but both were great.

Another spot to stay is in Gregory along side the river. Had a great camp on the river just beside the bridge - normal cars and caravans camping there too. Lovely spot for a dip.

Andrew and family (still on holidays and relaxing... forgetting how to tyep though!)

Don't you just hate it wjhen you post to the wrong reply thingy!!!

Anyway..........again

Hi Big Kids
&
DJ
Sounds like you are enjoying yourselves there?

As for the Gregory..........
If it's still open you can go past staying at this beautiful, peaceful spot for a night or two!!!

Having said that, it's suppose to be closed...............hence the reply to an email I sent early in Feb 2005 asking about the closure.

Council’s policy is to close camping on the river bed of the river at Gregory. This will be in place from April this year.

Hi Solly,
Drove out from Adels Grove yesterday towing 24foot van with 4.2TDI Nissan.Road to mine turn off exellent from there to Lawn Hill good. On a grade from 1 to 10 i would give it 8 for a gravel road. There were plenty of cars in there towing small vans
just drive to conditions and you won't have any problems.By the way there was approx 20 vans parked down in the Gregory River. Was talking to a few of them and they had not been told to move on by any-one. Duke
