Howdy all,
We got our cruiser back from the repaires today, and they have fitted this poxy little bull bar - a far cry from what was on there before.
We have waited 5 weeks for this "special" bar to be made, because ours was supposed to be an ex-Victorian police bar, and the bar that have put on is ridiculous! The steel on the old bar was a good 3mm thich at least- this one is lucky to be 1mm. And it just doesn't look right. The uprights slope forwards, fer christ sake.
What should we do? I could hassal NRMA (who have been great), but I don't want to get people off side yet. Anyone else experienced this?
Cheers,
Chump

yeah mate i recently had someone smash into the front of my car and mess up my allow bull bar..
So it all went through insurance, it took 9weeks to finally get them approve the works... The alloy bar i had on the car was a TJM and was pretty expensive, so i said i would settle for a steel ARB bar..... they were happy with that and it was all going great, until i get my car back and the repairer had MADE ME UP A BULL BAR!?!?!?!
I had specified that the bull bar had to be able to hold a winch... they 'forgot' that...
So yeah mate your not the only one...
Ring up your insurance company mate get on their backs about it, its them being tight, not the repairer i spoke to the repairer about it and he said insurance company only gave him a small amount of money..
So yeah hastle them mate hastle them
Justin

It's funny you say that about the winch - ours didn't get refitted either. All the holes are there, but no brackets or anything.
And the whole thing is held on with 4 little bolts - our last one had 8!
Even the bloody screws holding the indicators on are steel - so they'll be rusted next week.....
Thanks for the input.
Chump
PS - you weren't repaired in Rydalmere, were you?

I don't know what State you are in, but I think in some States it is not legal to have bull bars that lean forward!

So what your trying to say is that your new bar doesn't have a fitch,,,, like the old one did and 'might' be illegal by sloping forward. The legalities of forward sloping is one thing but without the fitch, you should be fuuurious.
Sicem Chump, why should you be the one put off side
Regards
Andy

The 4WD accessory place has the old Bull Bar sitting in their factory. It wasn't damaged beyond recognition or anything.

Hi Chump, as far as I've seen Vic Police 4X4's have ARB or TJM winch bars. Sounds like the apprentice was given some welding practice!! Throw it at them and tell them to go and get an ARB/TJM winch bar, what a crock of s**t they're trying to do!!

The insurance policy for each of my two RA Rodeo's specifies the manufacturer of fitted accessories, ie Gitsham Mega Bar for the SA Rodeo and Irvin for the WA Rodeo. That way the bull bar shall be replaced with that one
Cheers,
Dion.

There's a basic principle of insurance called "utmost good faith" and it means that both parties (insured and Insurer) should show "utmost good faith" to the other party.
In this case, I would suggest that your insurer has not abided by this principle and you have cause for complaint. Most general insurers have a Dispute Resolution procedure, where by the first two tiers are internal and if your complaint/dispute is not resolved to you satisfaction by then the dispute/complaint will go to an independent external panel.
My advice, call your insurer and lodge your complaint and keep the pressure on. If it happened as you have described they should fit the same/similar bar that you had.
Don't believe all the repairer says, it would be interesting to see what he ahs billed the insurer for.
Cheers
Macca
