We just brought a new hilux... 35" wheels and 4" lift job... and I am 5 foot nothing :-(

Absolutly fantastic 4x4.. the previous owner has completely waterproofed the inside (and put in plugs.. great idea.. just chuck a bucket of water in to clean her out) with the result that it's slippery as all heck inside ..

rubber mats will help with my getting a grip to step up.. but I think I need some sort of hook on step or something, don't want to put side bar steps on.. just can't comfortably get into the cab without standing on something (the cab is waist height on me)

anyone got any ideas? must be some other ladies out there who have the same problems
oh.. and we are in Melbourne
thanks
Natalie

Seems like the person who chose it doesn't want you to be able to drive it away with out the other providing the ladder. As a captive it sounds like you need the 4" (or more) lift Natalie........

I have the "ducks disease" as well - luckily I can get into my vehicle with the drivers seat back and haul myself up with the steering wheel - but I have seen a step that goes on your wheel to allow access to the roof - maybe something like this can be modified to go in the doorway - seen them advertised in all the 4wd magazines - so probably available at 4wd shops etc.
Good luck - jules

Solved the same problem (but without the lift height!) for my wife with side steps. Make them sliders and you're adding some protection.

Either that, or steal a rear step off a Discovery :-P

G'day ladykahu, with our patrol, my wife has a small, square, plastic stand with a rope attached. Or you could go all out and get retractable steps!!

Maybe a rope pulley with a bucket on it , perhaps a crane with a swing out arm or rig up your winch so it just hauled you aboard .

Perhaps you should take lessons in mountain climbing .Then you could haul yourself up the lugs on your 35" wheels , climb onto the bonnet and using the exterior mirror , swing yourself into the cab .

my thoughts exactly! However I would look at industrial rope access training as it will be recognised trainiing and alligned to national competencies. this will be much better for you in terms of transfering the qual and skills to other vehicles and meet state and territory OH&S requirements.

Good luck

P.s.- Disco rear step, they are retractable

Get a bucket, stand in it and lift yourself up by the handle? I always tell my daughters I once knew a bloke that strong he could do it! My youngest tried when she was about 8, now she's convinced I'm full of chit.

Seriously, my mate made a wooden step for his ADD (Altitude Deficiency Disorder)suffering wife. She climbs in and pulls it up with a piece of rope or he flings it in the back.

Geoff.

May I suggest getting a pair of Platform Shoes, 70's style, not only will you get a good lift, but will look great as well.

easy, its a jacked up hilux - just chuck it into a hard corner at speed and it will lay down nicely on its side :-))

not many options if you dont want side steps. maybe a spring loaded fold down step as per the rear bar of discoveries.
