Hi Guys. Ihave some old HF radios that I know nothing about and do not even know if they work. I go to garage sales and cannot resist a bargin. Here is a list;
National Panasonic - Model RJ-3150
General Electric - Model A3-5804A
Pearce-Simpson Cub
Uniden - Model APX7
Colt 55.
Most have mics

Are they worth anything or should I just turf them?
Thanks. Rod.

I would just put them on ebay,you'll soon find out if they are worth anything.There is usually quite a few on there,some get a few bids and some don't.-Steve

You'll probably want to find out which ones actually work first.-Steve

Thanks Steve. I concur. I live in Camden NSW. I did at one stage hook up power and an aerial but did not hear anything. Is there a channel for testing or radio check purposes and would I be able to contact them from home. I'm in a bit of a hollow - do I need to be on top of a hill. Thanks, Rod.

You would hardly call them HF radios – they are simply antiquated CB radios. They will probably cost more to freight than the offer you get. They are museum pieces.

If you really require a 27MHz CB then purchase a new one – they are less than $100. That way you will have something that performs to full specifications and is in no way degraded. You will also have something much smaller to find a spot to install it in a modern vehicle which is often troublesome to find a spot to install them.

Thanks PeterD. If they are museum pieces then they would fit in well right where they are. I have 3 vehicles whose ages combined are 136 yrs. Add to that my age and we are nearly 200 years. Ah, for the good old days! Rod.

Hey Charger,
I cleaned the shed a while back and found 3 CB radios 1 was a Pearce-Simpson Cub, I listed them all on ebay and sold them all 1 i got 0.99c (only one bid) I think i got $30 for the cub. Worth a shot.
