i've been looking at the
forum for quite a while now and i've absorbed as much as possible-getting ready for the big trip next year. i think it's right to say for a first timer like me that i can go most
places with as much of the right equipment as possible, multiply that with a lot of commonsense.
now the point of this thread =i love my mulberry home made wine about 1/2 ltr
per day on average which means if i travel for 2 months i will have too much on board through some dry communities and i presume i would be in trouble with the authorities (thought of carrying drums of
water and fill the 65 ltr
water tank with wine LOL:)
has anyone got an answer for my problem.

Start going to meetings ;-)
Knew a guy travelling round australia, who took his homebrew gear in his van. however he would need 5 or so says camped, to ferment, then bottle so he could move on.
Not sure how long wine takes to ferment. and where are u going to get copious amounts of mulberries on the road??

i'm glad at least one person in this huge pool of professionals on most things in the
4x4
forum had the guts to contribute.thanks revhead307.
all my wine is in 20 litre drums fermented and ready to drink
what i'm really asking is is it possible for me to take say 3x20 litres of my wine through a dry community(and i mean through) i just want to take it through the dry zone no more no less.
i really appreciate you're input and if you ever come through central queensland
send me an email and of course you're invited to sample the best of the best fruit wine in sunny queensland

Hey Skippie
Fruit wine sounds worth a try :-)
As far as legality is concerned (my understanding)...the answer would be no, dry means dry whether its personal use or not...as far as practice is concerned...its taken at own risk.
I've smuggled my share of grog into speedway, races and other events, through many and various means (I enjoy the challenge lol)
I'm unaware of the penalties, but would assume checkpoints/searches would be minimal. As before, at own risk.
Regards
Rev

Ya could always put a (slightly ambiguous) label on the containers...
Somethin' like ummm, "Fruit Juice Cordial" sounds about right ;-))
Wouldn't mind tryin' some o' that there (ahem) "cordial" meself :-)))

Skippie
What roads are you proposing to travel that you think may pass through dry communities? If you are a little more specific you may get some constructive suggestions.

Hi Skippie
I just read your reply to disco, I didn't realize you were going out of sunny Qld.
Glad the site will help you though.
Maybe if you do a google search for the other states alcohol restrictions or if others know of their respective state weblinks they might post them for you?
Good Luck!

Skippie ,as you have already got the answer to your smuggling problem just a small suggestion, get some new yellow diesel branded plastic jerries and use them for your "cordial" instead of white
water or red/black petrol jerries ,,, in the white
water jerries the "cordial" would stick out like the proverbial and in red or black petrol jerries the chance of theft for the purpose of sniffing is high in some of the "dry" areas,
