Gday Handy,
Are u talking about an electric thermo fan on your radiator etc? If so Davies Craig are a good brand and can be picked up at any auto one, repco etc etc.
If not..more info please, as thermo fans are just an electric motor..rather than involving a clutch.
If your talking about ur viscous hub engine fan...thats another story.

Rev

In a performance car maybe...ie so its not engine driven (negligable gain)...but in a 4x4 its not worth the hassle.
standard viscous hub will do fine.
I have seen them on ebay before. Or you could try a wreckers if you dont want to to shell out the $$ for genuine new.
You can also buy the viscous hub oil from Toyota, most of the time when they cease to function its because oil has leaked etc and they no longer engage properly. Fairly easy to remove...open and refill.

Personally, if ur looking at keeping the GQ, Calculate approx 40,000 kms at the cost of replacing cheap fans with a genuine one which will last u forever. See if its cheaper to buy genuine. The cheap ones cant handle the job on a diesel 4.2.

Ange,
I recally my original lasted about 100,000, bought a Craig-Davis for about 1/3 of the cost of the original. It lasted about 60,000, replaced it, and the second one was still going after about 90,000 when I sold the wagon. Did look at putting in an electric fan, but mounting issues made me ditch that idea.
cheers,
Gerry

Ok a stupid question: My Jack has the viscous driven type - how do I know if it's functioning correctly? On steep hills the temp does tend to rise...
