MAVERICK(WA)
just a quick one - went to
quilpie for a night and stayed for 3..........the cara. pk is very good and the mgrs extra friendly - makes a pleasant change - do the sunday night snags and campfire though the campfire is alive every night anyway. the bowls club does a good wednesday night meal for $11. from
longreach go via the tocal rd and have a look at lochern np then take the back track into
stonehenge - good stn tracks. from
jundah have a look at the
camping at walford np - very very nice alongside the barcoo river - continue to the main bitumen rd and turn left to
quilpie. beats the hell out of going all the way on the blacktop anyway. and i even managed to find some rocks with colour in them - speak to the 'opal hunter' main street of
quilpie - like the cara pk people friendly and willing to have a talk. rgds

Sounds great, I'll be going through that way in August
Try and make it a must stop.
I hope August has got 40 days in it for all the "must see"
places on my list now.

Try to include
Yowah into your plans as
well. You can fossick for opal there and even with no idea of what we were doing we found some nice pieces. The caravan
park there is quite good and they used to have a couple of bathrooms with walls only...two baths in each so that you could lie back in the warm artesian
water and look at the stars!!
