I don't have Google Earth Premium but out of interest Google has just included Australia in it's normal Google Maps database and therefore you can access their excellent satellite imagery and overlay street names, suburbs etc through
maps.google.com
Just type in as an example
Canberra,Australia in the search bar and click on the icon titled "Hybrid". You can zoom in and out just like Google earth and navigate around Australia and further.
It doesn't have all the features of Google Earth but is still worth a look!

There's a free trial version for seven days. I tried it once and decided against it. From what I can remember, one of the main features was that you can print at a higher resolution. That could be great if the original google image was at a higher res (like in the US) but it made no difference to the images for australia.

R ,
I am trying to confirm whether or not the image is a higher resolution in Australia if you pay for the Premium service .
It may have changed since you demoed it , so I will still try to get info from someone who actually has it now.
Thanks a lot ,
Willie .

Willie
go to
earth.google.com/products.html
Under "Google earth pro" there's an option to download the profesional version free of charge and you can use it for seven days.
Cheers.

Google Earth v4 beta has just been released. I live in the southwest of WA and the maps were hopeless. Now I can see my house with great clarity so they obviously have updated thier maps.

Hi Peter,
I just went to the Google Earth website and saw the offer of a 7 day free trial but I could see no mention of V4 BETA .
Where is it and what is it ?
Thanks a lot ,

I can identify my latest 4x4 outside my garage so I know that the photo of my area is less then a year old. I can also easily see 4wd tracks through sand hills in an area that I do not know very
well so I now have a better idea of where I can travel on existing tracks.

Hi Willie, I looked at maps.google.com
It is free and has fantastic detail of those areas that have recent upgrade to the new photos. I have just had a look to see what is visible of the CSS and unfortunately that area does not yet have the latest photos. The thousands of
sand dunes make it hard to see any tracks but if you know where to look you can make out a few faint tracks, not really much use though. Wolfe (sp?)
Creek crater sure stands out! About the only things that you can see in the CSS area are all the
sand dunes you have to cross.
I am in NZ at the moment. It seems that the photos of the large
population areas and surrounding countryside have been upgraded but not much of the 'out back' has been done.

that's amazing i just looked at maps.google.com and can even see my own back yard and judging by the photos from my place and the area i would say that it was taken around March or April this year.
