Hi all,
Just wondering if there is anything in particular I should be looking out for when lookin at a Suzuki. I already have a 4runner which does what I want, but there is a suzuki with a fair bit done to it.....
any traps to look out for?
Thanks in advance....
Cheers ;)

Check under the plastic exterior trims...door seals and wheel arch flares...prone to severe rusting. Service history is real 'must have.'
Fun machine, but showing their age now. Goodluck .

g,day Longy,
Great machine, go more
places than most other 4wds. But if it comes from near the coast look for rust everywhere. Body can seperate from the chassis if rust is severe. Check inside brake drums for rust damage. Other problems we find are worn or broken king pins , rusted kingpin bearings, worn and loose driveshaft splines and uni joints. Clutch cable should be smooth in operation. Electrical wiring faults are common, check all lights etc.
good luck

Longy,
Beaut little car them suzukies. I had an 85 SWB High-top model some years ago. It was stock standard, apart from a 2" lift and larger tyres (235 wide, can't remember hight).
It used to float just below the winscreen, and it would tip to about 48 degrees (measure on the dash pod) without too many dramas. 50 degrees was just too far..;-). If I ever got stuck, 2 burly guys could pick the back up enough to slide something under the tyres.
Wheel bearings used to go fairly often, but they were cheap to purchase, and I fitted them myself. The motor went, and I almost put a swift GTi motor in, but instead just got a replacement (change over was $1000, including the mechanics time to do it...). 5 speed gearbox went as
well at one stage, but it was pretty much loaded at the time, and the box was pretty darn old at that stage. They are old technology, so easy to work on.....
Apart from that, they are the funnest 4WD you can drive. You would not believe the
places they will go - I never used to believe it myself.
Cheers,
Chump

thanks for all the replies guys,
Seems I'll be able to go a look at this truck with a little more confidence now.
Enjoy, and thanks for the advice.
Cheers,
Longy.
