Hey,

Just wondering if it is possible and if anyone has done this; -

1. If it is possible to add another gas tank to my truck? Put it in the wagon section in the back?

2. If anyone has done this what are their experiences?

3. Does anybody know a rough price involved?

All I can tell you is that you can put a tank in the back as I had a Pajero with one in the back and I moved it underneath because it took up so much load space.

At home we cook on bottled gas, we have two gas bottles and there is a valve and sort of manifold to switch between the two. I would assume that if you had two tanks in your car you would have a similar arrangement, with each tank having a seperate filler. I can't see why there would be any problems. Your local friendly gas conversion company would no doubt give you an idea of price over the phone.

Assuming that you still have a petrol tank having two gas tanks would give you a huge range.

Thanks mate..

Well getting a bit more range out of the truck is the idea.

I only get 200km outta my tank at the moment so would like to add another 200km range....

She still runs on petrol, but again only get about 180km outta it...

Thanks for the advice mate

Justin

As greydemon eluded to with his gas bottles, yes you can. My cousin has two gas tanks sitting under his F250, much for the same reasons as you outline.

Speak to a couple of gas fitters to get ideas on price and the likes. Good luck

thanks rodaho

I will have to get incontact with a gas company ....and get a price...

I shouldnt be the cost of a full install surely since the mixer and converter and plumbing is already installed..

I would guess at a grand?

Hi Cipher,

Before they invented these new Donut Tanks that go in the boot of Fords, Magnas and under the floor in the Pajero's they used three small tanks joined together in the spare wheel well on early model Falcons.

Out of interest, how much gas do the donut tanks hold and how large are they? (overall diameter and height)

Hi Garry,

Not sure on the actual demensions but they take up the same space as 265/75/16 tyre, you could check with Southern Autogas in Adelaide as they fit them. They have 58ltrs usable.

Hope that is of some help.
