Hi every one,
just wondering if any has any experience with cleaning out the wax build up from poor quality gas in converter?
If anyone know how to get the wax out and give her a good old clean out and what not to do etc etc etc
Would be a huge help
Justin

Hey Justin
Change to a different dealer, But I've never heard abouot the wax problem though?? Lines or engine ???
10-12 years back I was using Safeway Gas, in my 2003 Commodore, because it was the cheapest, one day they ran out..
To my disgust I went across the road to an " Independant " dealer and got an extra 70-80 km for the same amount of gas, and about 10% lift in power, it actually works out cheaper than Safeway because they sell lighter fluid.
I was also told, by a mechanic, that in order to keep the engine running better, change the plugs to a gas plug .. if my memory serves me correct they were Bosch HR7DCY plugs, ( or similar sounding name ), and change them regularly ( 20,000 km )
I have since brought a new Navara 2003 ,, 3.0 TD, and use Safeway fuel only when I cannot get anything else
Cheers Mate Bucky

I have not seen wax but I do see a rather viscous oil. Just turn off the gas, open a drain bolt at bottom of converter and let it dribble out.

Some of the converters have a small (about 6mm) bolt and I have seen others about 20mm. You have to take them right out but make sure you have turned the outlet from the gas cylinder off first just in case the converter demand valve sticks open. I have usually got about a tablespoon of oil out of them. Fixes all sorts of running problems so I always try this first.
