So what is the efficiency differential between a brand new battery that is off the shelf and a buggered battery that has been repacked and new battery acid put it ?

It really depends on the battery being repacked.

We had some Canon Video batteries repacked of different sizes.

One was better then original, and one was slightly less.

Whoever does it should be able to tell you what they can do.

The problem is they will all say they "can do it matey!"...

The results are differing, I have an UH-056 battery that needs replacing, so do I get it repacked or get a new one..

Personally, go the new one, keep the other for a spare. Then you have no problems.

If you mean as in repacking a lead acid car /marine /deep cycle battery ,most are as good as a new one, a repack on video , phone, cordless drill ect batteries can save $$ compared to new replacement, have always found that the so called reprograming of memory in rechargeable batteries is a total waste of $ and time.
