hi steve

i sold a 1990 mav , 7 seater bull bar , duel batt , ally side steps, snorkle, long range fuel, cd player, 2 x 12 volt out lets, tint windows, 240,000km 3 year ago for $ 17k. that sounds like a good buy, check to see if the fuel pump has been done , can be a little costly, other wise you can 't beet the GQ they will go for ever, you will never kill it

Doesn't seem overpriced to me. When I was buying a GQ Patrol 18months ago (cost of diesel has seen 4x4 prices continue to drop since then) that would have been a bargain. Similar vehicles (in top condition) went for $14-17k.

Hi guys, while on the subject of Maverick's/ Patrols, can I bounce this one around a few of you for some thoughts?
1994 4.2 turbo diesel Maverick (Garrett)
winch bar, no winch
drive lights
polyairs
hayman reese tow bar
HD Lovells in rear
TJM shocks
UHF
roof racks with boat loader
1 owner
204,000 klm
90% AT tyres
red in colour
6mths rego left
large 3 core radiator
absolutley no rust, has lived in a garage most of its life!
side steps
sunrasier wheels

This vehicle's owner is very fastidious, has been used to tow a small van from time to time, owner is retired and seems to look after this rig very well, all it would need for our own use would be a winch, snorkel and dual batt installed. price $he's asking $17500?

Hi there Truckster the one I looked at last week was sold yesterday, the bloke wasnt willing to wait till I got an inspection done, his call I suppose, so I missed out on that one but have found this one, as stated above I am now getting a new car for the wife so unfortunately wont have the extra dosh I would have liked to come and have a look at yours as I would imagine yours is worth a lot more probably 20K worth more then this one below, what are your thoughts, is owned by a diesel mechanic but has just bought himself an 80 series turbo /d for pulling his 19f van reckons the cruiser pulls it better but anyway what are your thoughts or anybody eles's for that matter on the one described below. It has been a great truck, would be more than happy to sell it to somebody I know, or to have it come on my trips no questions. I would be happy to sell it to a club member.
It has a few scratches and marks on it, but its a 91 model thats been used as a trip leader car for the club happily for years, and has plenty more life in it.

--
There area also plenty of spares and things with it.

Hi there Pat, I didnt think the turbo on a 4.2D would be a major issue as I thought that providing the engine has been well serviced I should see at least another 200k without any probs. I would expect things like injector pump, injectors and possible service on turbo, are these the things you mean or are you talking major engine things like rebuild etc. Now you have me concerned about wether Im doing the write thing or not or should I be looking for some thing with lower klms without a turbo and put one on myself. Open to any answers as I know jack sh@t about turbos or 4.2 patrol motors as Ive always been a toyota man no offence LOL. Regards Steve M

the thing with buyin someone else's old deisel turbo is scarrey as u dont really know the history an real reason why they r selling it and it is easy to provide some service history as it may not have been really done but hay the book is stamped!!!. i know that goes with most second hand cars an 4x4's .If your hafter a long term 4x4 deisel i would say naturlly asperated go away with turbo others out there might agree an may disagree but that is my experiance with deisel motors in the past 30yrs unless your driving a big freighter truck or of that size.Good luck with it
