Ihave a friend with a navara zd 3o engine ,just started making noise at turbo at slightest exceleration, back off and noise disappears only to reapear at a touch of the throttle. vehicle dosent seem to have lost power. HAS anyone had this problem and what is it??. i was thinking perhaps it might be a leaking ex manifold as i have had this problem on rodeo diesel before.Would appreciate any feed back. THANKS IN ADVANCE DEMECH

Yes have noticed the same from mine ('03) like a light whirring or buzzing...dealer was adamant this was considered normal (like they do with any fault in... my experience at least).

Has not proven to be a problem as yet (65000km) time will tell I guess.

Might be a bearing in the alternator ??? I thought my whering sound was the Turbo but tracked down, and found it was coming from the alternator, especially when turning the motor off. In a brand new R51 Pathfinder lo and behold, one of Nissans unsuspected surprises, have had them regularly, I could right a book..Graeso

My Nav does make a noise around the 2200rpm mark, it does sound like an exhaust rattle. Metalic ring/rattle /vibration. I suspect that it may be a loose heat shield/turbo sheild, I will be having a closer look at it today. I also had a similar sound coming from the rear of the vehicle and traced it to the towbar nut wire. I bent the wire so it sat clear of the chasis channel, I could have also used silicon rubber to insulate the wire. I hope that this helps.

I will let you know what I have found and a probable diagnosis.

Regards Smitty.
