Hi all,

I am going to travel from Cairns to the Cape, departing from Cairns on July 22nd. I heard the roads are something better. Maybe CREB track if not closed, Cooktown, Lakefield, Musgrave, OTL, etc..

Back to Musgrave, then shortcut to Dunbar HS, maybe a part of Gulf road... I have to be back in Cairns on August 14th.

I travel on my own and would like to find somebody to hook up for some parts of the trip...anybody interested??

hi eric hope you have a good trip, Im planning to do a trip to the cape next year ( 4-5 veh) along the route karumba dunbar oriners musgrave etc . had a look at the track from Mitchell river to musgrave thru Google Earth last night and are hoping that the sat photography was taken during the wet season as it looked very damp. anyway when you get back in august can i contact you for some info on the track. we will be travelling in early jul 07. thanks

Hi, Brian,

I know the place where you cross the Mitchell River coming from Lakefield NP; there is a quite bumpy concrete causeway. I don't know the crossings on the other side of the Peninsula Development road. Go and see. If it is too deep or to boggy, I can always drive the way back..

Thanks for that info on the causeway , the girls didnt seem to be too interested in walking that river to checkfor depth and crocs. that should be the crossing near Dunbar. will contact you later ref track from mitchell to lakefield. take care
