just returned from the cape
all roads are open and in good condition
telegraph track is pretty good and wiyh some common sense you will have no problems. there are a few deep crossings but by now they should have dropped.
just take it easy.. one cruiser went in to fast int bridge
creek and sucked
water down the snokel.. result.. bent con rod.
we took fuel with us as
coen, musgrave and bramwell were out.
tankers were running again by the time we were coming back but most stations have limits
bloomfield track is open and
well graded
P . D . R. is
well graded and like a 6 lane hiway in parts.
cooktown to
coen road widening is in progress and many of the "DIP" signs are missing. be carefull!!!
we didnt see one of these dips ( steep drop into
water crossing ) at 90kph. just didn't see it
call in and see matt and katrina at brawell for a good night drinking and somewhere to sleep

hi there
we took two 44 gallon drums ( 205L ) each but that was for two cars
if you are going in august you should be okay ...roads should be o kay and tankers should be running by then.. it just depends on your vehicle and how many side tracks you intend to do, between archer river and
bamaga. it might be only about 400kms but its a lot of stop start ( for the dips ) and mainly sand covered road.
if you are after any info or pictures you can contact me on stephend@mad-auto.com

Returned from
Weipa and
the tip last week. No problem with fuel anywhere. Carried no extra fuel. Plenty of tourists on the road, and road trains. Agree with state of the road, excellent mostly but watch those dips. Some still have plenty of
water but they are mostly narrow. A lot of work is being done after the wet.
Of course give it a few weeks and with the volume of traffic the corrugations will appear.
