Hi forumites,

I am looking at adding a 3rd Battery to the LC100TD. There are 2 factory starting batteries.

I have been advised to either replace and rewire the 2 batteries with odessy (read $$$$$$$$$$) or alternatively add a 3rd.

Has anyone done either lately?

Problems? Advice?

Cheers

Dave

Really depends what you want to run off the batteries. It is quite easy to isolate the two OE batteries ie to use one as a starter and the other for accessories. There are a number of options available - I dont think too many LC100TD owners put a third battery in.

errr ..... cipher ...... do what I do and go to your auto lekky and get him to do it !!
ps the question was about a LC100TD ..... my reading indicates that Toyota have included two batteries to satisfy the European market and countries that are far colder than Oz and need the two cranking batteries ... it has only caused me a problem once or twice in 5 years and I now have a switch to turn on both batteries for cranking if and when necessary.

Hi Ozman

Where are you based ?

I need this kit to add to my range and will always do a good deal for EO members when using their vehicle for a prototype.

I have just done the V8 LC100 and it turned out great. Power steering relocation looks like a factory fitment.

Regards Derek.

The dealer suggested a third battery to me to run the fridge. Check to make sure that the proposed third battery will be big enough to run what you intend to run off it. I am fairly certain the available space restricts size.

However I am thinking of isolating the two batteries and replacing them with bigger batteries. Not sure if replacing only one first up creates problems, but perhaps not with the right set-up.

Hi Dave
I have a 100s Stnd Diesel which I have put a third battery in, I bought the ARB 3rd battery tray for the 100s Td and extended it to fit a n70z battery (read very big) fits and works great wired to my Aux battery. Last weekend I measured up my mates 2 month old 100s Td and we are going to do same mod there is room to fit the extended battery tray.

You can get the 3rd battery tray from ARB outlets
Suits 100 series
I cut the end out that faces the firewall and extended the tray to fit a bigger battery
I will try and take some photos and post them, hope my computor skills are good enough
Cheers
