I have had a SWB GQ, and currently a LWB GQ, both naturally aspirated Diesels.
Driving nicely on the highway at 100km/h I usually average 12.5L/100. Average around 13.5L/100km if at 110km/hr and up to 14.5L/100 round town.
I recently moved house (800km towing a fully loaded trailer larger than the LWB) towing at 90-100km/hr got up to 18L/100km on highway.
Thats just my experience, but hope its useful.

My GU TD gets around 11,5 to 12.5/100 not excedding 90kph and towing my 18ft van 14 to 16/100 again at around 80-85 kph so driving at a lower speed reduces my consumption considerably which I am more than happy with.If I push it harder it rises much higher on one trip I got up to 100kph an it used 18/100 hope this helps.

Back in March we did fuel figures as we were planning a desert trip. On the weekend in question we drove from the
Gold Coast to Yamba and back in near cyclonic weather. We averaged 14.1L/100ks with 2 adults and 3 teenagers, a weekends
camping gear and the camper trailer. (With the trailer we are 3 1/2 tonne on the road) Averaged about 85/90 kph although on a newer stretch of highway I briefly "booted" it up to 135kph to see how it "goes".
truck is a 95 GQ Patrol 4.2L and had a Turbo-Glide Systems turbo fitted last January. (Hence the "test")
Hope this helps
Brian

Hi PJ -Ours is a 99 Turbo Diesel. We use 12.5lts /100 klms without the trailer.
With the trailer (1.3ton), it depends on the right foot.
You can get 14l/100 if you keep the speed below 70 and very gentle on the throttle.
(Had to do this near Innaminka when fuel gauge showed close to 'E'.)
You can also get 20l/100 if you drive at 110 klms, and use the grunt.
Keeping to around 90kms/hr, we average about 16ltrs / 100 klms.
Tyre pressure has a fairly big impact on the figures also.
Low pressure = comfort for people (more rubber on road) = more fuel used.
Ours is kept around 50 psi on hard surfaces.
regards..........................Keith

my old 94 & newer 2004 patrol 6 wheelers both 4.2turbo D get about the same fuel consuption at 4 tons the average highway trip 13.5ltrs/100klms (not over 100klms) the older one has aftermarket turbo & both have 3" exhurst etc
if i push it & drive it hard it can use up to 25ltrs/100klms.the older engine puts out alot more grunt down low & is a better engine due to the new type injector pump fitted to the later patrols, wich are very flat down low

I have a 94 GQ 4.2EFI which i have just converted to gas.Average fuel use for around town and towing was about 20ltrs/100klms pre gas. Gas is now less than this but who cares when you are paying under 50c per litre in the country.
