My 2003 Navara econony is dropping,, had it on the dyno early in the peace to fix the " Turbo Lag " @ 20k and was getting 10.5 km / lt ,, now its done 80k and my econony has dropped off to 9 km / lt ..
What would cause this ,, ????????

I don't pump the throttle,, I regularly service it,, filters ect ,,
using Mobil Delvac 15w40 oil, and running a Safari Snorkel

Is there an air mix sensor that may need replacing? .. I have been told that EGT and pump pressures cannot be changed, or am I mis-understandiing a few things

It may need to go back on te DYNO !

Cheers
Bucky

Hi Bucky, I sometimes wonder about my Nav as well. I do know that tires play a big part in economy. When I first got mine it had road tires on and I was getting about 650- 700 km out of a tank full. When I put 31x10.5x15 Wranglers on I battled to get 550. A chap I know had an earlier Nav(or was it a patrol?) and he cleaned a small gauze filter at the injector pump inside the main fuel inlet pipe and instantly got more power and economy. I don't know if we've got the same set-up..Rus.

Interesting, I still get a consistent 10 km per litre from my '03 DX. Mine originally had HT 205x 16s fitted but have since fitted 245x16x75 (i think) but I believe these are the same rolling diametre.

Just a s anote the 31x10.5x15s may be a taller tyre...speedo and odomoter error (?).

The only occasion that fuel consumption has been noticeably greater was on a weekend away trip towing a camper trailer & gear to around 1 t.

That said, most of my weekly miles are highway running at speeds 110 -120

I drive a 2004 Navara with approximately 52,000 km on it. I get various fuel consumption figures from week to week depending on where I buy my fuel from, how I have driven the Nav for the week, the conditions I have driven the Nav in, weather conditions, aircon useage, load carrying etc. There are many reasons for yor fuel ecconomy to drop. I don't mean to be rude or to assume anything about how and when you drive your vehicle, but look at the obvious/simple reasons as to why your vehicle is using more fuel. I have enjoyed driving my Navara and it has supprised me on occasions, good handling, good off-road ability (excellent low-range gearing), comfortable, sporty aesthetics, outstanding towing capacity and reasonable power.
Cheers & Beers, Smitty.

I made an interesting observation last time I filled up with fuel. My economy jumped by 11.2%, this was over identical runs, same conditions except Shell Fuel instead of Woolworths. Did the trip a second time and got same results. Sent emails off to Shell and Woolworths and asked for an explanation. Got nothing from Caltex, got a generic one from shell so still don't know why.
