Hello all,
I posted a questions a few weeks ago in regards to a new noise in my FJ40, since reco'ing the gearbox, transfer and front diff. The most plausible solution we have been able to come to the phenomenon of 'wind up'. This is the tension produced in the drive train between the front and read diffs, on a solid surface which doesnt allow the tension to release front to rear, as a slippery surface would.
Has anyone out there come accross this before? Is this common/should I be worried about it?
Thought I would put it out there...
Cheers,
Blake.

If you are driving it in 4WD on solid surface - yes
