pjp65, what is the reason it won't engage, i had one of these little babies, should never have sold it, was doing the same thing. found it was the rubbers at the base of the transfer lever jamming and not allowing the lever full movement to engage. take of floor plate and see if all is ok.

dinodod sounds like a similar problem. 4wd lever jams and wont engage. with a bit of fiddling it loosens but stiffens and jams again. does this sound like your problem.thanks

Place I work we had one with problems like that. Found that the plastic bearing/socket that the lever sits in had disintegrated. Pull off the rubber seal, twist the retaining ring anti clockwise and lever should come out. Should be a spring on top of the ball and a plastic socket under the ball.

Got several spare boxes at work, can possibly help if stuck

Yeah, can probably work something out with the boss. Had a look today, got 4 spare boxes condition unknown, but have never had problems with them that I know of. We use them on the farm till the bodies fall apart then strip them and recycle the bodies into new Falcons. Part of my job is the maintenance of all farm machinery including 5 Sierras from '86 to 93 models. When I'm not fixing them I'm driving one around the paddocks so I'm fairly familiar with the little buggers. You can contact me at ianandcharmaine@westvic.com.au
