Has anyone or does anyone know of someone that has slipped an 80 Series 4 speed auto into a troopie. Just interested at the moment because I'm thinking about a new touring wagon in the near future with a few mods.
Cheers.

I'm not certain, but I recollect hearing that the transmission tunnel was not big enough to accommodate the auto transmission.

You may be right Phil but there are automatics in the 70/73/74 series which have a similar floor.
They would be using the older A440? auto but I cant see the A442 being much bigger.
Also the newer HZJ73/HDJ74 and 76/77 series only sold in Japan are all auto and they are connected to the 1HZ/HD and 1FZFE engines;)

Hi
I saw an article years ago where the fitted one, it will need to be a A440f, (not electric) as in early 80 series turbo diesel and older 60's....you will need the t/d (1hz) bellhousing/converter, flex plate, etc etc, and it can be bolted to an A440 from a petrol 60 or similar....so yes, it can be done...i suppose even the electric one could be fitted from anything up to the 1hz 100 series rv auto....but it would be alot more involved....switches, tps's, computers, wiring, etc etc.

Thanks for the replies, I currently have an auto 80 Series and just love the auto, especially off road. Don't know if the conversion would be worth the effort in a troopie as the diff gears would probably have to be changed as
well. Mind you an 80 Series axle swap like the one in the Michelle's sacs troopie would be neat.
