Have just returned from a fantastic trip through
Longreach,
Winton and then down the Diamantina River Road, eventually to
Windorah and home through
Quilpie.
I'd appreciate any tips others have found useful in keeping road dust out of the (soft-floor) camper trailer (Trackabout Safari). We had very little find its way into the trailer body, but quite a bit into the top - which found its way into the bed area.
Appreciate your help as always.
Regards
Spliney

G'day spliney,
Did that trip or near to it last year with the same sort of small dust problems. When i got home i went through the whole trailer with the camper erected and found small holes that i did not think significant before. Filled all i could find with silicone. Done around both front and rear tailgates with thin (sticky one sided) foam. There is not much i can do about dust getting in around the cover when in place and travelling. There always seems to be a place where it does not sit down flush.
Cheers,
Bros.

Spliney,
I don't think there is any product or technique on gods given earth that will keep bull dust out.
No matter what you do.........its gonna get in. Definately plug the holes and gaps you can to reduce it but...its still gonna get in.

Hi Spliney,
Saw an interesting thing on a camper trailer recently - a
snorkel !! It was on a hardtop, but would probably work on a softtop. The idea is air is force in to the trailer from the
snorkel, pressurising the air inside keeping dust outside. The owner recked it worked very
well.
Cheers,
Jezza.

On my camper that I had for six years the top cover over the camper had a sail track at the front and Velcro down the sides we never had any dust in it and it had heaps of use if you live in
Brisbane ring Chris at the Canvases place at Kippa Ring and he will make you a dust proof cover.
It is worth the extra money to stop the dust I built my camper in1998 for $4500 and sold it 2004 for $8500 not bad and I could have sold 6 times over. I you look after your camper and keep the dust out it will not only keep its value you may make money.
Hope This Helps

BBB , the canvass place and chris are no longer at kipparing ,now at clontarf and soon to be on the move again to new premises at the bottom l/hand side of McDonald rd clontarf , recon he has to be the best canvas bloke on the nth/side or sth/side for that matter as a lot of customers seem to travel a fair old distance to have work done by him and his staff.
