Recent changes to Victorian planning controls NOW PROHIBIT a "Motor Racing Track" statewide in new rural zones. The definition of a Motor Racing Track in the planning documents is as follows-

"Land used to race, rally, scramble, or test, vehicles, including
go-karts, motor boats, and motorcycles, and includes other competitive
motor sports."

This new law prevents any legally condcted events including rally, enduro, mototrials, grasstrack, tractor pulls, water ski and even private recreational vehicle use. In addition the prohibition extends to events not requiring any formed or constructed race track or infrastructure. It also includes one off competitions or training/practice days unless the land is re-zoned.

While Government representatives agree it was not the intention of the changes they are not willing to fix the problem!

Just another one Bruce.

Country people in Victoria have to have a police check before they can give their grandchildren any employment. Really good idea to give young people an employment history. If you babysit your grand children you don't have to get the police check, city or country. I wonder what the police may be looking for? What is it about Victorian country grandparents? Nanny State Victoria.

Announced last week was the final stage of the Geelong Bypass. Great you say, but it will end in a traffic light controlled T intersection - a bottleneck. Great management. Today Bricks announced they will apply to the the Howard Government federally for a study for the fourth stage to avoid the bottleneck. Obviously the voters are getting to him now. Time for him to sit down and watch Bob Newton's Family Feud.

Bruce, I understand the State Minister may offer a waiver to events like speedways, car and bike racing at places like Philip Island and Winton it it is applied for. I wonder about people water skiing on local rivers - all that sort of thing. It is supposed to be enshrining farming in planning controlled farming districts, but sounds like it is År$É about.

It would mean no one could buy a bush block in a farming area and expect to ride a bike round it hour after hour.........

John,

Is that the law that was brought in because some "do gooders" thought rural families were exploiting their children/family members by getting them to work on farms for a pittance or, shock horror, for nothing as a normal part of growing up in a rural area :))))))))

All sorts of things were bound up in it Al. Collecting the eggs was always a thing to do for parents as well as grandparents, town and country. It is seen as work and you need to be checked out...........

apparently this is legit....

This means no more car/bike/4wd events, rallys, gymkanhas, basically anything with a motor can no longer run...

Wonder when they will be handing out permits to fart, and leave the house

Where did you read this Truckster?.

After reading it a couple of times, I get the impression that there are only a couple of areas/zones where these regulations do not allow recreational activities.
For example, Rural Activity Zone allows for RECREATIONAL activities.
Limited RECREATIONAL activities in both Rural Living & Rural Conservation zones.

As I've said elsewhere, let's hope everyone gets the full story & facts right, before getting too hot & bothered. Hopefully 4wdvic will at least get involved here.

Cheers
