Hi, heading up into the Simpson at the end of this month. thinking about dropping into have a look & maybe camp at the Annadale Station ruins on the Eyre Creek. My maps show the access, which is also part of the flood by-pass, as a Private Station track. Does anyone know of who to contact in regard to gain permission to access this area?
Cheers Tony

I was up there last month - as dry as a chip up there. The track hadn't been used for ages when we did it. Annandale is on Adria Downs Station. David Brook is the owner and lives in Birdsville, and its best to phone and have a chat. I seem to have lost his number, but I'm sure you'll find it somewhere. He has a lot of organic beef on the property, so has to restrict access - best to call him and ask.

Hello, windy and showery night - so far only 3.4 mm rain - can feel the panic in the lower level already! Been having about 350 people per night - been v. busy in town. Had to attend a roll over last Saturday - 30 klms north on Bedourie road - rolled three times, troopie with roof top camper (hire car) and European visitors. Minor scratches - vehicle wrecked. Very lucky.

Hi Ruth,
Hate to know how many rollovers happen on outback tracks each year. I'm surprised that European tourists can get insurance to drive a troopie. So you've had 350 people per day at the caravan park, and you're still on ambulance duty.......sheesh.......Don't know how you do it. Bring on 2007 :-)))))

Cheers
Phil

Hi VK3CAT,
As Phil said, it is wise to contact David in Birdsville. We were up there about 3 years ago and he wanted all of my groups Rego Numbers. I know he comes down hard on people that do not get permission to travel up there. When you are up there, check out the blaze tree near the old wagon wheels. I did some research into the blaze, very interesting.
Enjoye your Simpson trip, you will have a ball.

Regards
Stephen

Hi Ruth,
Good to see you are busy. No rain down here, but we should get good rains this weekend. Any takers as yet. All the best and regards to Ian.

Good to hear Tony.

The ruins are very interesting. They were even ruins in 1939 when Madigan went through. Check out the hinges they made for the gates - rather neat.
