You may never use Microsoft Windows again:
hamshack-hack.sourceforge.net/
Just follow the download links and burn the file to a CD using the "burn image" facility of your CD burning software. Then tell your computer to boot from the CD drive and you'll have a whole new world operating from your CD - when you're done just shut down, remove the CD and reboot into Windows... if you must :)
More Amateur Radio stuff on this CD than you could shake a stick at.

Thanks Mike.
gotta love Linux.
Almost forgotten about the old 486 :)
The minimum system requirements are:
Intel-compatible CPU (i486 or later)
16 MB of RAM for text mode, at least 96 MB for graphics mode with KDE (at least 128 MB of RAM is recommended to use the various office products)
bootable CD-ROM drive, or a boot floppy and standard CD-ROM (IDE/ATAPI or SCSI)
standard SVGA-compatible graphics card
All of the communications programs will need a functioning sound card. If your sound card works with Windows, most likely, it'll work with Linux.
serial or PS/2 standard mouse or IMPS/2-compatible USB-mouse.
