I'm looking to buy a 16' Jayco expanda with awning & walls and flies. I am in the newcastle area, but that doesn't mean I won't travel for a fair and descent purchase. Does anyone out there in computer land know where I can get one for say under $25000? Heres hoping.

Cheers

J.O.

I wish you the best of luck.

The sad fact is that all Jayco's hold their value well.

Example: We were in the market for a Jayco Outback Camper Trailer last December. We got offered a 98 Eagle with the awning we wanted for 16 large. A brand spanker was 19 and change. 16?, 19?, we weren't on a tight budget so went the newie.

The simple fact is they go up about $700 to a kilo every year. Hence a good second hand job generally commands its original purchase price, or thereabouts.

The most common buyer for an Expanda is a Finch/Eagle/Dove/Swan owner wanting to upgrade. Thus you have a seller getting top whack for his second hand van and expecting to pay a similar premium for his next purchase.

Good luck with your projects.

Jim.

Hi J.O.,

If you have not already done so, have a look at the Windsor Rapids as well.

When we wanted to trade our Jayco Dove to something a bit quicker to set up and a bit more comfortable, we looked seriously at a new Jayco Expanda but ended up buying a new Windsor Rapid. Main reasons were that the bed ends have a solid roof instead of vinyl, very easy to setup and packup, even in the rain.

Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks for your reply.

Yes we have looked at the Windsor Rapids. You're right & I agree they would be better in the set up & pull down department, but I seem to be swayed by the internal layouts of the expanda. My old man is trying get me to spend the little bit extra on the Windsor. But the other problem around Newcastle is they don't come up very often.

Regards

J.O.

Yes - they are available - there is a yard here in Frankston Vic - next to Page Bros it is run by a member of the Page bros family but not associated with Page bros itself apparently - hope you have luck finding what you want.

Look on 'google" - AVan caravans - all details on first web site that appears in list
including photos, - the expandas have hard top, hard walls - and lots of other features - I am not a caravan person, but I would have one of these - maybe not the expanda, but a pop top. veery impressive.
