g'day all, looking around to buy an offroad camper trailer. i am interested in 2 that have gal steel frame and marine grade aluminium checkerplate sheeting. I also need a side boatloader that can lift around 130 kgs of tinny. I know that alloy fatigues rather quickly, but thought it might be ok if the frame is steel. the 2 i am looking at are "robust campers" in rockhampton and "thommos camper trailers" at yandina (both have websites if you wanna have a look). I expect to see both in the next week or so. has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with these or anything similar?

regards

chris

Chris ,
Like you I am interested in alloy campers to save weight . I have been warned a number of times that they must use marine grade aluminium and that this makes them very expensive .
I will go to those two websites and have a look .
I am in the same boat as you re looking for info on this strength issue .
Thanks ,
Willie

Youngharry,
I picked up my Robust in early Feb. I think they are very good value for money for the basic camper, the price has just recently gone up though. I believe the canvas/camper is second to none. One of the main reasons for my purchase is that he is local to where I live. If you would like to talk more, let me know through the forum and I will post/email a phone no. for you.

Cheers Andrew
