My km recording on my speedo has stopped. The km/h Speedo is working fine. My manual only show's the speedosensor on the transfer case, nothing about the speedo workings itself. This thing is electronic, no Speedo cable.
Can anybody help please? Thanks FredN.

Are you talking about the trip meter or the total km travelled???
If so why care as you are only preserving the K's. As long as you know what speed you are doing, I would think this scenario would be seen as fortunate by a great many number of people (of course not everyone would think like this).
I have not shed any light on how to fix it and am sorry for that, but just wanted to get the story right and give my opinion.
Good luck,
Trevor.

Exploder,
I may want to sell a car on here one day so I wouldn't go that far LOL. But if you don't take notice of km travelled then how can that be your fault ;-) ;-).

Wish I had that problem with my lux would be as said above an advantage, but yes not everybody is like that and I suppose also it would harder to tell when you need to do the
services eg oil change etc. Regards Steve M

Fred, exactly the same thing happened to me this week on my 92 GQ. When I fill up with fuel I always reset the trip odometer and when I pushed the button to zero it I thought "that feels different" and sure enough both the trip and total mileage odometers had stopped working.
Seeing as it happened just as I pushed the button and I noticed something different as I pushed it it has to be a mechanical fault and not electrical.
I asked on Outerlimits if anyone had any info on GQ odometers and got a useful reply from Nick and I'll repeat it here.
Regards Andrew.
"When i had this problem Andrew, the trip meter/odo still worked, but trip meter couldnt be reset. This was due to the plastic fingers which press against the numbers breaking. If this happens, they can jam the numbers thus stripping the plastic gear which drives them. The whole thing is pretty easy to pull apart. You might be able to get another speedo (like i did) from a wrecker and swap over the trip meter and use the plastic gear from it in yours. The rule is, dont press too hard to reset the trip meter--if it wont reset, dont force it....
Nick"

Hi FredN
Have the same problem (mavrick 1993 TD 42) non working K,s counter/ odometer Cant find any electrickery going to this part of the gauge so must be mechanical(maybe indirectly motor driven).I quess you and I will have to pull the things apart.Has to be r/s main cog and cheaper to get repaired at a instrument specialist.Try digi gauge on ebay they were doing exchange intrument cluster for $80 plus postage.Let us know how you go.

Same thing happened on my 92 GQ. Sent it away for repair and they said it had been wound back and were tell tale signs of interference on the internal screws. Not sure if this caused it to faulter or not. The cogs that turned the numbers around had broken.
