Does the Current Navara have the same engine as the Nissan 3L which has been reported at times to have a catastrophic premature life? If not does the Navara engine have any issues? Actually asking for a friend who wants to buy one to pull a three horse float. Me, I got a hilux.

Surprising comments those. i have now done 26,000 in my ST-X (thats the new 2.5 l TD - not the ST-R 3.0 that the original post asked about) and it has performed faultlessy. It has never had a recall that required me to take it back in. I have never received a letter from Nissan informing me of a recall. Maybe they fixed something at one of the two
services it has had but so what?
I presume you have one also Donks, based on your intimate knowledge of the vehicle?

I've had
mine since december and done around 14,000km without any issues! It has had TWO factory recalls, one for a steering part and one for rear axle bearings.
Who care where it was built? It seems
well built and sturdy enough.
I had a tail light broken and had no delay in getting a new one.(
Well hithin 3-4 months I can assure you)
Some people seem less than
well informed on these utes and intent on rubbishing them. Me, I just love
mine and don't care what utes others prefer to drive.
cheers
Steve

If you are that
well informed maybe you could list these at least 5 recalls as i only know of 2 in Australia as
well.
Im with the other D40 owners here, I love
mine and have had no dramas so far.

No attitude here just want the facts which so far you seem short on
Its not steer column its,
Lower steering arm may not be connected properly, to be checked to see if fitted correctly
Only 1 that applies to the rear axles, which they will replace.
As far as i know the other recalls you are refering to are not related to the Australian models.

I'm also not interested in "attitudes" just facts. I've only been sent two recalls by Nissan, and have had both carried out.
Mine were the steering shaft and rear axle bearings which they said MAY necessitate the replacement of the axles I think.
I'd be more than interested to see what these other recalls I've not heard of before are as I would like to discuss them with my dealer to see if they've been attended to.
Donks1, what are you employed to do by Nissan?
cheers
Steve

I checked with my dealer today on exactly what recalls are relevant to my vehicle. They are as follows:
1,000 km service: Reset torque on 2 cab mounting bolts - total time 30 seconds!
10,000 km service - Check steering shaft - total time 60 seconds!
The others would seem to be a figment of Donks imagination, substantiated by his lack of reply to exactly what he did at Nissan. (can't be in public relations can he!!)
I suppose we D40 owners are lucky - at least the bull bar won't drop off when we are winching!

The new new Nissan Navara has a 2.5 Litre Engine, not 3.0 litre, so yes it is new. It makes a whopping 400+nm of torque and hopefeully for around 300,000kms. If you are considering the Navara you should also consider the new Hilux. Very Very good vehicle.

Question was for a friend. I've got an 04 SR5 3.0TD - tried and proven so I'm happy as larry so to speak. He is mainly looking at towing capacity due to horse float. I haven't personally looked at the comparison to the new Hilux. Do you know?
Thanks for the info.

Yes the towing capacity of the Navara is around 750kg more than the Hilux, however I don't understand how that is achieved..? When you compare the Lux and the Navara, weight, brakes, engine,
suspension, chassis, there's nothing to suggest the Navara can deal with the 750KG extra that the Lux can't..? Love to know the answer to this one..

Yes could be the Brakes, as Navara is 4 wheel Discs, Toymota has drums on rear, as far as I Know
