Hi,
Has anyone been to the Coledale
Camping Reserve in the northern part of
Wollongong? Any opinions, experiences, etc?
There was very limited information on the web.
Regards,
Han.

Hi garbage,
I havent actually camped here, but i am a local. The reserve is right on
the beach, literally a stone's throw from the
water. Not many spots, not too organised, but the location is fantastic. Depends what you are looking for. Facilities seem ordinary, but are probably ok. No
shop, not many people (at this time of year anyway). I think the position alone would make it worthwhile if you were from out of town. Not too far away from restaurants etc. at Austinmer and Thirroul but nothing much at Coledale - just an RSL.

Han,
I'm in the Gong and spent a night out there with my mate who was on a shakedown trip also from the Gong.
Not a real big place but is on
the beach and i mean 20 metres away.
Two rows of sites each side of a road. One side backs onto the
water and the other onto the grass
hill that goes up to the coast road.
Facilities are probably 2.5 to 3 star I guess. Hard to judge. I only had a BBQ and a few beers. Didn't stay overnight.
You need to book in the warmer months and on weekends especially.
Seemed like a nice place and some local clubs and pubs and other eateriies not far away.
Not sure how many powered sites.
It's a council
park so maybe you need to call
Wollongong City Council.
Better still ring the reserve on 02-42674302
Can be a tad windy at times I'd say. Being right on the
water.
Cheers
Garth

Hi Han,
A good friend of
mine swears by this place. He lives nearby at Wonoona and traditionally took the family down to Coolandell (sth/Wst of Nowra) but says this place is so close and pretty (and Cheap) it's his new nest.
Enjoy.

Thanks for all the replies! Looks like I'll have to make a trip down to Coledale when it gets a bit warmer!
