Hi All,
I have a 97 80 series with splits. Can some one please tell me what the glx size rim is stock? 16x7? 16x8? If it is 16x7 can you legally go one inch larger in width to a 16x8? I am after new tyres and would rather go 285 80 16's. Thanks for your help
Matt

80series GXL are 16x8.
90series Prado rims will also fit, but they are 16x7.

I am thinking coz it has splits it is a pov pack without flares. The widest you can go is 235 and even these stick out past the body a bit (mine do about 1/2 inch) which can get you a yellow sticker - you may need to fit flares to go wider

Matt,
I used to own a Standard 1995 80 series and like yours had the barn doors and splits on it when purchased. I subsequently purchased aftermarket fibreglass flares from TJM in Brisbane (cost me $600, which included colour coding and fitting in 1997), purchased some second hand GXL 16X8 steel rims and fitted 285X75 R16 tyres. I found it definately rode better for it & generally was more stable on the road. As a matter of interest, the next model up from the Standard at the time was a DX, frollowed by a RV and than the GXL.

Great truck.
