Bill,
I hope people give you a go on this one as I think your answer was to the point but not advertising and to me that's how it should be. Not always your biggest fan but
well done....this time.

Member No 1, I can get down to 4l/100k's for short sections of a trip. That is usually freewheeling down a long steep
hill with a tail wind. Beat that

Yes Nudie, I have a hyclone in each muffler, and a fitch mounted just inside the diesel filler point. To help, I fitted a 14" exhaust plus turbo chargers on each tyre.
Boost pump fitted to the
water pump and 3 in line 500Ah batteries to assist the supercharger. I hope to achieve 250k's per litre one day.

if it is a normally asperated one then around 13 - 16 per hundred depending on how you drive it. Never measured the consumption in my 80 but when driving to
perth the light comes on somwhere about midland so is about 75 litres for 650k (approx)

Pretty much agree with everyone so far. My 99 N/A cruiser got 13-15l/100km average. Best ever 12.2l/100km but towing the van loaded 2.5-3.0T it went up to 20l/100km.

I have just done 5000ks east to west and recorded consumption etc very carefully. Started with full tanks (not included in figures) and filled up at end.
Used 578 litres for just over 5100ks. Best was 9.8litres/100km, worst was 13.4 against strong headwind and 135kmh
Broken Hill to
Port Augusta on sunday. Average over trip was 11.2l/100km and bulk of trip was 115 to 120 kmh. There was no towing or load except me and bags etc, 100 series TD 5 spd auto, with chip fitted.
The manual has different ratios, I think it runs about 300 or more above the auto at 100kmh. How this affects the economy I dont know but I was stoked with how it handled it.
These figures are accurate, I have no gimmicks fitted etc nor any personal barrow to push. These are a sensational bus on the highway at least!

the 9.8 was driving at night at about 90kmh looking for roos. I was experimenting using each of the 2 tanks to test different driving habits. The subtank at 41 litre was easy to experiment with, use til light come on then continue and refill it at next stop.
Ironically the trip from
Brisbane via
Grafton to Tamworth/Coonabarabran was about half heavy traffic and steep/slow over the divide but returned exactly 400 km for 40 litres.
Very pleased with the consumption

I drive a 98 NA diesel 105 Series, with bullbar, no winch (at the moment - bloody NRMA...), no racks or anything. I also have the split rims with narrow tyres, and tend to run high pressures.
Last Wednesday, I filled up at Rydalmere (near Parramatta), and switched over to the sub-
tank on that bit of freeway between
Ballina and
Tweed Heads heading north. It was near the Byron Bay turnoff. It was about 800km by my rekoning, and I rekon the
tank had about 10L left in it, as I switched over as soon as the light came on. So I would guess around the 10L/100km mark.
Coming home was a bit worse, as I was sticking to the speed limit (I would guess around 11- 12L/100km). It's amazing how much the consumption goes up when you sit on 110km/h as opposed to 90-95.....
Around town, the last couple of tanks have been around 12L/100km.
Cheers,
Chump

My former 100 series TD ( with the HDT motor), 2000 model did 15.6 litres/100 km - 6.4 km/litre towing a 2.5 tonne, 18 foot van from
Perth to
Port Hedland and back at highway speeds of 85 to 110 kmh.
Around town and on the freeway tp work and back was 12.2 litres/100 km - 8.2 kms/litre.
Beautiful truck for covering
miles that TD 'Cruiser was. Gawd - I miss it.

Hey there,
have 105 GXL cruiser with custom aftermarket turbo setup. Pre turbo install was returning 13.6 to 13.8 L/100km, after install get 14.2 to 14.6 L/100km. Only had turbo setup for last 3500km so still 'playing' with the new power, should be able to drop this figure a little.

Hi there Shakey,
I have a '98 Normally Aspirated Diesel manual that is substantially weighed down with all that must have stuff ;-) ARB Sahara Bar/Winch/2nd battery/roof rack/Kaymar rear bar with two spare
wheels, lots of sundry stuff and whenever travelling, am usually loaded up with 4+ adults, their gear, 80L Waeco, and a pile of stuff on the roof.
On road I get about 17l/100km pretty consistently if I stick to about 85-90km - don't seem to make much difference if I pull a camper trailer which weighs in at about 1T, but then, a lot of the weight is transfered from the roof rack to the trailer.
I run Cooper STTs at 45PSI on bitumen when loaded and I have learnt to use a light foot.
Offroad and in heavy sand hills or heavy going beach work, low tyre pressures, etc., this comes down to about 22l/100km and probably worse for the nastiest sections.
From what I can tell, the factory turbo is quite a different engine with much better economy, and the aftermarket turbos don't really make an impact on economy except that it is easier to go faster ;-)
Ciao for now
Andrew.
