Jimbo
I couldn't resist, bought one today. "Thule" style of lockable plastic roofrack pod. Quality seems OK, especially at the price.
It took me about an hour to fit, not too hard. U Bolts needed some modification, but that's due to the roof bars on my car being very wide.
Anyone looking for a bit of extra storage space may
well consider one.

Looks good Jimbo - does it work with a roofrack going across the vehicle?

Mike,
It mounts North/South on East/West Bars.
Eric,
It may even be somewhere to put the spare if I can fit LPG. Sorry Mate, I haven't got around to calling you about fitting LPG to the Jerry, I'll try tomorrow.
Cheers,
Jim.

I would be wary about putting a spare up there.
These plastic "Thule" type storage boxes have a history of coming loose in emergency stops.

Now this should go in the Friday funnies section but hell I'm gonna post it in here....
Was looking at these and thinking that it might fit the racks on the Jackeroo and this guy says to me: "If I keep this inside my Disco would it deter thieves?" I respond with " you mean to get it home?" he says " No I was thinking of putting my stuff inside it to hide it from thieves in the car".... I said "why not just put a blanket over your stuff" he said "Oh no, thieves know to look under blankets" Being the true agent provocateur my final response was "why not just get the box and thieves will think you are just taking one of these home and they wouldn't bother breaking in to your car just to steel the box would they?" he looked perplexed & I left....

Hey Jimbo,
I've got the same problem as you. My bars are quite wide - about 9.6cm in width. I'd be interested in finding out how you went about modifying the U bolts to fit?
Regards,
Han.

Bought one yesterday as
well.
Jimbo, did you just flatten the U bolts? I've got Rola racks and need at least 85mm width. Were they still long enough?
I'll probably run a strip of self-adhesive neoprene around the rim to reduce dust.
The front catch is a bit flimsy.
Great for the money.
Adrian

Adrian/Han,
I simply bent the U bolts to make them wide enough to get around the bars. However the bottom of them does not fit flush with the bars, so it's not a perfect fit.
In retrospect I should have gone and bought the right sized U bolts to make it fit properly. When I take it off I will do so which will entail drilling new holes, so I'll have to plug the others with silicone or something.
Cheers,
Jim.
