I'll post this here first, and see what sort of response we get. Thinking the next long weekend, around the start of October, so plenty of time to get things organised. What do you think people, we havent had a W.A. gathering for a fair while, and it may be a good chance to sit around the campfire for a night or three......

Sounds good to me Rick. I should mention my work is fairly intense and random, so I'll do my usual disclaimer that I can't guarantee attendance, but will do my level best to be there.
Desperately need a good trip away somewhere. Been months since the last one.

Yeah, why not if I have the time free I wouldn’t mind going up for a night or 2, unless this is a member’s only thing that is?

Mr Ex......lol.
Membership of E.O. is not a prerequisite at all. Simply being a part of the E.O. mob, and the fact that you read the post entitles you and yours to don a tent or camper, and hootie-scoot out there for a chat around the fire.
So if youse wanna come, then bring a bottle of port,,or whatever rocks your tonsils, to sip around the fire.
Gawd forbid, but even those from the eastern dark who may be over here at the time,,,,basking in the glow of The Great Sticker God, may feel free to join us, the blessed ones..........lol:)

Ok then I might just do that LOL.
No guarantees, but I will do my best to try and make it, as it may
well be the last 4WD trip I will be able to do for 2-3 years sadly.
Cheers.

Good stuff - I can see why you dont like Hema maps - the area you went into is "trackless" according to the Great Desert Track maps. Maybe the tracks arent "great" enough. Plenty of tracks shown on the Natmap 250K map though
Cheers
Greg
PS proper name is Turturdine Rock

Ummm......
Wear the FOX HAT !!!!!!!!!!!!...............;-)))
SWMBO & meself are hopin' to be headin' west with intention to be in
Albany by about the 10th-12th October (at the latest).... Depending on when we can get away, & other time constraints, we're thinkin' about followin' the twain twack (ssshhh) to
Rawlinna, & then detour via
Plumridge Lakes & Queen Victoria Springs Nature
Reserves before continuing to Kal., & then down to
Albany...
If this Juardi Station is en route (or not too far off it) then we'd be delighted to drop by :-))

The train track from
Rawlinna to Kalgoorlie is great and some good
camping spots. I rekon there is nothing better than
camping 50m from the train line and watching the trains go by. You can see some wrecked carriages at Zanthus on a spur line. If you follow the spur in a Northerly direction (Cundeelee Road) it will take you to the Cundeelee Aboriginal Site (Abandoned) (Get a permit on the web www.dia.wa.gov.au) You can continue from there to Queen Victoria Springs. We were there 5 weeks ago with Camper Trailers and had no problems. Continue North to Argus Corner & the Nippon Highway (this must have been a real joke to whoever gave it that name) Turn West and come in via Pinjin Station where you can spend some time exploring. The station is abandoned. Its worth finding your way to Old Pinjin (abandoned) that is about 50kms South of Pinjin. Its off the road and a little difficult to find, but worth looking around for it. Its also a great place to
camp. From there its an easy drive into Kalgoorle.

Thanks Trekkie,
Not 100% sure yet that we'll be makin' the trip, but at this stage, it's looking "highly likely".........
Your suggestions are noted, & will be taken on board...

Hi Rick,
We'd be keen to come along too, on the proviso I'm not away with work.

Bush camp for two days sounds good, as long as the weather isn't doing as it is tonight!

Hello - just for the record books (and to make it easier to find using name search in OziExplorer) the actual spelling is Jaurdi not Juardi. Jaurdi is about 46 km north (as the crow flies) of Boorabbin Rock/Great Eastern Highway.
30° 48' 52.8' S 120° 09' 34.2" E
On the Streetsmart map it is referred to as Jaurdi Nature Stay.
Have a good one
Cheers
