Hi all,
Has anyone come across a biodiesel setup? as you read a lot about it on the web where you can set it up at home and make your own.
Check out www.tasmanenergy.com.au/biodiesel.htm
'Also are you allowed to do this ?
Anyone got any info on it or first hand experince

Steve,
There is a lot of info on the 'net about bio-d. Just do a Google search, you'll get heaps. There's also some on this
forum - again,do a search.
I've made my own in the past & plan on making more now that I'm retired. I ran ny Ford Maverick on it regularly. Good stuff.
There's all sorts of stories about whether it's legal or not and I'm not sure. But I just use the "catch me if you can" principle :)
The biggest problem when making bio-d is getting hold of the waste oil. Everybody's chasing it these days.

Stephen,
Of course it's legal to use. There is a problem with the ATO in that if you manufacture fuel, then you have to pay a fuel excise to the ATO - 48c/l I think. But to use the stuff, or to make it, no problem at all.
Like Bilbo says, there are heaps of links on the web, and indeed on this
forum too - though more of the enquiry type like yours.

Hi Stephen,
Go here:
This is a great site. read everything first before doing anything dangerous (like I did) ;-).
Ive been making it for almost a year or so now, give me a hoy if you want to know anything else.
And yes, its legal. Home producers are exempt from any excise, unless the recent changes to the fuel excise bill changed that, but I dont think so..... Who cares anyway ;-)
cheers
