Hi Miles,

If you go with the three you mentioned (which I think is good), the oil pressure sender unit can be plumbed into where the low oil sender unit is. Need to buy a t piece which screws into where the low oil sender is now but the t piece has 2 threads in it for both the low oil and your oil pressure senders.

The only other gauge I would consider is a water temp gauge, I know there is one factory one but it tells you bugger all IMO. I am pressuming you have a Nissan TD6 and you may be aware these can run warm when being pushed....handy to know before the Nissan gauge says it's too hot, what exactly is going on.

Trevor.

Damn straight !! i

It is a real eye opener to see how the motor does or doesn't heat up in comparison to what the OE guage in the dash shows.

Like the others have said, oil pressure or oil temp would be a good start. The temp gauge needs to have a hole whacked into the sump (mine is immediately above the drain plug, where I could put my finger inside and make sure there was nothing there that was gonna get crunched), A nut was then brazed onto the outside of the sump.....I used an ordinary nut, which I had re-threaded to match the 1/4" NPT thread that VDO senders use.

If you go with the oil pressure gauge (2nd option IMHO, as you already have a warning light, but I would be hooking a buzzer to the light at the least.....but it can get annoying as it sounds everytime you start the motor), then I would mount the sender unit in a different location. Mine is mounted on the passenger's side of the block, just ahead of the engine mount, and just behind the air-con compressor. This way, you have a second point on the motor where the pressure is being monitored (as the OE light sender is mounted near the dipstick).

Another option altogether, is to mount a voltmeter ....switchable between your 2 batteries (assuming you have dual batts of course).

Cheers

Roachie

Just remember Miles.. that Roachies cabin looks like this now, with a warnign buzzer and light for the warning light and buzzer for the other warning light and buzzer for the air filter colour

LOL Truckster - a very accurate view of Roachie's C0CKPIT however!! ;-)

I went down a different track...Boost, pyro and ammeter. I already have 2 separate displays for volts - one which shows indicative levels (part of the Piranha dual batt kit) and a second digital readout in the turbo timer.

Cheers

ROFL Truckster.

I shouldn't laugh too hard though as I believe in too much info is never enough when it comes to gauges just like Roachie.

but when it takes you 4 hours to just figure out what buzzer is going off warning you of which gauge to look at thats warning you of which side of the car to look at cause theres a sensor on the altimeter gone .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 off horizontal, its a bit over the top....
