We will be on the canning in about four weeks and would like to find out what the supply situation is like for food and water at Kunawaritji? Also if water is freely available at Wiluna? Any information would be appreciated thanks.

I wouldn't want to rely on supplies at Kunawaritiji, when we arrived there(Sept 2005) the shop was almost empty. We manged to buy ice creams and a bottle of cordial. No problems getting fuel, at the time it was $2.20 for diesel, but the shop is closed at lunchtime, so you may to plan on getting there before or after lunch as there is not that much to do.

Wiluna had a pretty good store, not sure about the water situation as I purchased bottled water from the shop.

Was there 10 days ago - basic stock of canned food, some frozen food, frozen bread, long life milk etc. Plenty of food to choose from if your not a fussy eater.
Fuel was $2.80 per litre.

Hi there,

Agm

I think you should take more water with each post, might equal intelligibal. Who Knows.

Gunbarrel Groceries do mean in provisions. Try camping out at Jill's place at Gunbarrel Grapes 8 KM out of town, on the left hand side, on the Carnegie Road. Great camp kitchen.

Fuel as I understand it is $2.80 per litre at Well 33 and Capricorn Roadhouse 200 litre fuel drop still at $450. I'm surprised it is still at last years rate. May now be higher.
Enjoy it all, buy Eric gards Canning Stock Route book, and travel slowly.

Regards

hi all

plenty of water at well 33 with some travellers refilling there - seemed ok if you watch out for the goldfish and what they do in it - its up to you

Water also available from bores off the track to Marble bar - watch out for the red drums beside the road - local sign post - should see windmill and tank round about - some have water signs

as above - plenty of food at the store - but if you are used to buying pate and caviar to have your french toast suggest you try somewhere else with a wider product range

Confirm fuel at 2.80/litre a month ago

We were there on 18th July and they had plenty even hot pies in the warmer. Libby seems to run the show and has all the time in the world. yep the Diesel is $2.80 per Lt dont know what the petrol was worth didn't think to look. Theres heaps of water there to at Kunawaritji. It's a good stop for a shower also and to catch up on some washing if the need be for only $1. Pretty darn rough into and out of the community, the corrugations were rough as guts. If your doing the CSR please use or get yourself a UHF radio set as we came across some drongos that had no radios to speak of and near on had them self an accident, sweed tourists.
Good luck.
Oh yeah take spare shockers we heard that 17 out of a group of 20 did in shockers NOT PRETTY!!
