Hi
i am sure u would use silicon spray as to not attract dust and grime the other is graphite powder but it is very messy and i am yet to find it very useful in many situations as it will not stay on the surface u are trying to lubricate.

Pres

First - are you just putting up one at a time - if you put them all on together you are dropping voltage quite substantially to them. And do it with the engine running to maximise the voltage too. Otherwise might be an early indicator of a dying battery.

If its not electrical, then reckon I'd go along with Mattie.

Try silicone spray on the tracks on one and see if it makes a difference. If not, or not enough, its not hard to get the door linings off, and check out mounting screws for firmness etc, and spray all the pivot pins etc with silicone.

I don't use my HJ61 very often, sometimes a few months between outings.
But I was told many years ago to operate the electric windows at least every few weeks and this will help stop some of the binding that happens.
I do this as well as run the car with the a/c on at least every couple of weeks and no problems.
It is quite common for the 2 front windows to be operated fairly frequently, but how long is it since the back windows were operated. They are the ones more likely to bind I think.
As suggested, silicone spray or graphite powder helps a lot.

Sometimes the felt sliders on the sides have worn and allow the window to tilt diagonally, just a little, causing a lot of friction.

Also on a landcruiser's because all the electricity comes from the drivers door ,the rear left door get the least power.
This gets worse with age as corrosion, dust and loose terminals take their toll.
They also need really clean battery terminals to get the most out of them

G'Day pres,

Have the same prob on my 80 - it's pretty common. The runners get dirty and basically your window will get stuck so you gotta keep them clean. You'll probabaly notice it more in the cold. Had the situation where a rear windo stayed up when I tried lowering it. The window was stuck, the mechanism attached to it fell off inside the door and that's a prick of a job to fix!

Basically spray some silicone spray along all runners and down into the runner bits inside door itself. work the window up and down and it will free up. Just do this every month or so or as required and you'll have no probs!

Cheers
Scoey!
