Hi All,
Perhaps someone out there can help me. I want to buy another troopy to replace my current version. There is a RV TD troopy for auction on Wednesday at Ketley SA Government Vehicle Auction. The vehicle however doesn't have an inspection report and, as the troopy was out in the Pitlands might be a doubtful proposition.
I would appreciate if any
Adelaide based soul could assist me by inspecting it.
All effortd appreciated.
Regards

G'day Ian,
I'm not in
Adelaide but our head office is next door. If you don't get any response, MM me and I'll see what I can find out. Coming from the Ab lands, they generally have had a flogging. I personally wouldn't buy one from there.

Des,
Exactly what I'm trying to ascertain. It was with PY Media which may make a difference, but again perhaps not.
Cheers just the same

Ian, I just looked at the Govt. website and got a report up on the screen for the vehicle without any problems. Click on the 'link' for the report. It opened up in Adobe Acrobat for me.
Hard to know what the vehicle would have been used for. May have possibly even be
based in
Adelaide. Maybe!
The report said the trim was average, whatever that means. Dual fuel tanks. High mileage for the age of vehicle.
I had a cursary look at a Patrol from the Pit Lands at Netley some months ago. You could not disguise the fact it had spent a lot of time in the bush. To say the trim was average was a little optomistic.
My mate finished up buying a NP Pajero there and couldn't be happier.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for that, I've just been back into the site and low and behold there is a photo and a report. Don't have a problem with the trim being average as ai'm going to transfer all my troopy gear to the new one and vice versa. I don't want any trim in the back as I use the voids for packing and storing gear. I have a bed/swag floor level with the bodywork just below the rear side windows.
Bodywork imperfections don't interest me at all, I'll probably add far more. The reason I'm changing is for the stronger drive train and gearbox/transfer case setup. The rest is a bonus.
Much appreciated your post.

Hi Ian,
I think I've got a busy week at work so not sure at the moment whether I can get down there on Tuesday to have a look.
The inspection report is above average for a TD Troopie. Pretty hard to destroy them in 49,000k and 15 months - even in the Pit Lands. I've seen some shockers at the auctions, but this one doesn't look like one of them at first glance. This one also has roofrack and dual wheel carriers which is not common.
If it is a good one, I'd guess it will go for $43-45k. They haven't been coming up much lately - none in the last 8 weeks, but I was looking at them about 18 months ago, and the seriously damaged Pit Lands vehicles with no servicing still got about $35k. The ex-police TD Troopies were about the $40k mark with 80-100,000km on the clock.
I'll let you know if I can get down there for a look.
Cheers
phil

Details here
Similar one went for $42k.

Hi Phil,
Hoped you would respond. The 79 series are fetching an awsome price of late.. I was hoping a no-hoper Pit lander that is mechanical sound would be cheap, a la economical viable, for an old fart in the bush.
Don't need anything flash but do need mechancially sound drive train and donk. Is that possible, knowing how they ignore servicing.
