I have currently have 17 inch rims with 265/65R17 and I have been informed that they are not roadworthy for this vehicle. To make them legal I intend to install 235/70R17. I'm deciding between Cooper 235/70R17 ATR pattern 111s and Goodyear Wrangler HP All weather 235/70R17 111s. Are there any opinions on which is the better tyre for mostly city/sealed road driving?
As a side note, it appears that the dealer sold me an unroad worthy car because the tyres are 27mm larger in diametre than the manufacturer spec. Is this a common practice?
The two tyres mentioned above are the only two I can find that come in this particular size.

Like always this is the most confusing topic under the sun, yes the dealer probably did sell you an unroadworthy car, you could try and get them to pay for the new tyres. Tyres are a dreadful topic, check out your state legislation, i have a 2005 dual cab hilux with 15" rims so i'm stuffed too, the local government authority such as the RTA or QLD Transport are not really the ones to worry about its your insurance company, you can run the risk its up to you.

all the best

Contact the dealer, and inform them they can replace the tires, and at same time you will be contacting the MTA or who ever they are this week regarding the Roadworthy..
