Hi everyone
Have just bought an Engel 57l combi and am embarassed to say I am a bit confused about what settings etc to put it on in order to use it? Tried it out this afternoon and putting it on five seemed to take it down way below freezing fairly quickly but wasnt really sure what happened after that. The instructons seemed thin to say the least and really dont give any guidance on how to manage the thing when you are actually using it!!
Once you load it up with food etc do you just have to keep an eye on the temperature and increase/ decrease the setting if its getting too hot or cold or does it have a thermostat to keep it at a constant temperature? I think that the temperature readout actually relates to the freezer temp rather than the fridge and that the freezer needs to be set to freeze in order to get the fridge to be at the right temperature.......
Does anybody have any experience with these fridges in particular or any guidelines we can use in terms of optimum temperatures for different foodstuffs and more importantly what you do before you go away in terms of getting the temperature right. Obviously ambient temperature will play make a dfference but would be good to get a rough idea......
Thanks in advance
Darren

If you want the Combi to act as a fridge both sides then set it around 4 on the settings, over 4 will cause the unit to freeze.
The freezer side will always be colder then the fridge side as the exchanger unit is located in the freezer side and cold air is transfered to the fridge side by the fan built into the divider.
It does have a thermostat to control temp but its overall ability to cool will be always be governed by the ambient temp so some trial and error is required to get your settings right for your circumstances and the amount of food you have in it at any given time etc.
Mine works real
well and I just come back from a 4 1/2 trip to WA, NT and SA and it was full with 3 weeks worth of food in the freezer and was perfect and the drinks always cold.
