Hi All,
What prices are people paying for VDO of similar 52mm Pyro and boost guages?
Are VDO the ones to go with?
TIA....Leroy

Port Adelaide:
Pyro $240 +GST
15psi Boost $60 +GST and $15 for the tube kit.
Haven't bought

thanks for that guys. I found a website with lots of guages and i didn't know how the prices compared
s21.com.au/index.php?main_page=specials
the egt guages are suposed to be the same as the VDO ones.

Leroy, I had a look at the link above. Just something to be aware of is the scale on the gauges. The pyro, for example and where you fit it, will have 500 degrees way down the left of the scale (VDO will have it at around the 12 o'clock position and to me that's where I'd like to "view" it - straight up, all good, over and time to wind the revs back?). The boost gauges on the link are more suited to petrol donks as they also have vacuum. If I remember rightly, you have a 3 litre diesel, so pick a gauge to suit your boost range ie: 30psi for the 3 litre, 15psi for the 4.2Tdi.
Just something to think about, then again I could be wrong.

I agree with Craigs comments re the Pyro and the scale.... I like the "500" at the top.

You also dont need a EGT that goes beyond 600 really unless your askin for problems. ;)

I thought 1200 deg was a little warm! I don't know why the scale is so large. Don't know what would get that hot.

IMHO, go a 15psi Boost gauge, instead of 30.. Would give a clearer reading.
... and if you COULD get them a 650 degree EGT, but ya cant - not that I've found. It would give clearer reading that way.

VDO look like the go. I think the 30psi boost guage is the go with the 3l though.

30psi for the 3 litre definately....let us know once it's all installed what boost figures the gauge returns - as an ex-3L owner I'm curious as I blew my intercooler hoses off a few times on the highway.

Paid similar prices to above.... I got told that the VDO pyrometer is the way to go.... boost gauges are much of a muchness (apparently...... don't shoot me I'm only relating what I was told.... LOL..) but the VDO pyro is more reliable and accurate than others. I went the VDO for both just to keep it all in the family, so to speak.
Cheers
Brian
