In particular the DSE special number for $30. Is anyone using this thing at home rather than just on the road ? I want to know what power supply I can run it from off 240v. I looked at one of these oven in DSE today but there was no sticker rating its power consumption. I know someone here at an earlier post thought it needed up to 10amps. I can only find (for reasonable price) the fridge mobitronics units that seem to go up to a regulated 8amp supply ?

They are not actually an oven, they will keep hot food hottish for a while, but they will not "cook" anything. (they can only heat to about 30-40 degrees above ambient)

What you are talking about Gary is a thermoelectric heater/cooler. They can only get to about 65 celsius. Only good to keep things warm. you could never heat a pie in one.

The DS 12 volt oven actually heats to 150 celsius and will heat tow pies to stinking hot in about 45 minutes. They can also cook food from raw eg amimi leg of lamb and vegies in an oven bag will take 2 to 3 hours.

Using one at home is not really an option. They do draw 8 to 10 amps. They are also very small.

For $30 you can get a small Mistral Toaster oven that is a real oven and much bigger than the DS job. It just plugs into 240.

true, was just hoping to kill 2 with 1 that's, was very impressed by your former post a while back. Don't want anything big but i take your point. Buying the DSE unit for the road and the Mistral unit for home will still be cheaper than buying the DSE and a regulated 10amp 12v from 240AC power supply.
