in regards to the post number 35664. i have a gu 2.8 and have fitted fuel flo electric pump. There is a good noticable increase throttle responce. Acceleration is a lot better too. On the high way it performs better and dosnt use as much boost, so the economy has improved also. over all it was a great mod. when i fitted the pump i put it after the fuel filter, this was done because the pump has a built in 50 micron filter but it is a sealed pump. not sure how u would go if it got clogged up..

What sort of $ are the pumps worth. After reading the post on the 3.0l pump going, I might plumb in a pump down near the fuel
tank and put a CAV filter in somewhere. I think the 2.8 has it's fuel return hose going into the filter not into the
tank, (I was once told this is not good, as the pump heats the fuel a bit, and if it keeps circulating it will get warmer and warmer, compared with being allowed to cool a bit in the main
tank). Does anyone think this will be a problem if I fit an electric pump down near the tanks which in this case will not have any pressure release! (apart from the fuel the car is using)

I've been running an electric pump ("Facet" brand with output about 5psi) near the
tank for years now.... and a Frantz (
toilet roll) fuel filter for many years on my TD42.
Outstanding results, and the
toilet roll filter has to be the perfect filter filtering down literally to a micron or two. (it's upstream of the factory filter, which never sees any dirt at all.)

Does the 4.2 return fuel to the
tank or back to the filter? I might do google on the Facet

Andrew,
Return is back to the
tank. I too have a Facet pump fitted recently. They're about $80- to $100- and only push about 3 to 5 psi.

Looking at a website & they have a pressure relief valve so the fuel return may not be a problem for me.......just how noisey are they & what model did you get

The one I got is a 594 from memory. I've fitted it to the side of the chassis rail, right under where I sit. It is mounted on rubber buffers and I can just barely hear it before I crank the engine over (waiting for the glow plugs to do their trick). After start up, no can hear at all.

Sorry....it's a 574.
Check out Post number 34,343 for some more info. Also, type in "Facet" to the search at the top of the
Forum page and you'll get a lot of info.

Bit of searching around, $100.00 delivered to KNX. Will check the locals tomorrow to see if they have anything similar priced.
Thanks for the advice
