Short answer is NO.
Long answer is,,,,we had one,,,,had no end of trouble with it, sent it in for repair three times and gave up on it. Got our money back and are now looking elsewhere.

GMC was first genny, gave that to the tree lopper who was here once in exchange for some work he did. Best deal i ever made, that thing was crap. "Upgraded" to the Scorpion, and had great fun when i got the money back. Now i dunno, may just put a solar panel on the roof of the camper and forget about gennies alltogether.

yeh im sort of looking in that direction to.

the only thing i dont like about solar is if you get a bit of cloud cover then they are pretty useless.
my brother has solar set up on his c/t and we went on a 2 week trip down south and only got 3 days of sun light, so the last week i was stuck powering all his fridge and lights off my c/t as well as my own gear.

Have a 750 GMC generator, can't fault it. Starts and works fine. Even use it around home for power tools rather than getting out an extension lead!

LOL!! We have a little 750watt GMC on the farm for odds & sods general duties. I keep a log on all of our equipment hours and I've just looked up that log for the GMC - so over 490 hours of use. Never a problem with it so far.

Must have landed a good one.

I gave a nephew a $99 GMC job for his 21st, nearly two years ago.

I told him it had a two year warranty and if he had any issues with it, I'd give him the receipt. I've still got the receipt in a file at home.

Lost,

Have a serius look at the Kipor's. We purchased a 2kv for $1000 new and if you check out their web page you will find them very similar to the Honda, but less than half the price. We put ours to the test for a few days out the back of Kalgoorlie and it did not miss a beat. Its nice and smooth for the laptop and has 12 volt charging as well. The 1 kv sells for about $600. Do your homework before giving someone else all your hard earned cabbage.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi there Chriss, I thought some body on here said that the places that stock these gennies were not stocking them anymore due to all the returns due to warranty issues then they have to be sent some where to get fixed and some people were not getting there gennies back for months ??? Dont shoot me I'm only repeating what Ive read on here. Regards Steve M

That's why they are so cheap Stephen. There is no quality control carried out at the factory in China. They make a run of 1,000 and ship them without testing. Out of that 1,000 they actually expect a certain percentage to fail, but have an agreement with the distributor set up to offer swap-over units or repair for those that buy them. It's a lottery - and when you can go in to a store and pay $100 for a 750W generator you know the score. It's a bit hard to come back later moaning that you were sold a pup.

I've been lucky with mine - it's been working flawlessly for months. Fill 'er up - pull the string.... brrroooommmm!!!

Have had our Scorpion 950 for 3yrs ,never ever missed a beat , swapped the plug for an NKG , switch fuel tap off in between use ,starts 2nd pull every time , was made by Austech ,,dont know and dont care if it was Chinese or made by Martians ,for the price and the work it has done and continues to do its brilliant ,,as an aside ,brotherinlaw has a yamaha 1000w ,we have had the gennys sitting side by side ,noise levels are = scorpion even though a 2 stroke runs 2x as long on same amount of fuel - same load.

They all come out of the Yamaha Factory. Go to a Yammy outboard dealer & ask to look at their 2 stroke gennies & don't faint when he tells you the price !

I may be too late in the day to tell you this, but I have just seen an Aldi letter box circular that is advertising a 2000w generator for $349.00. This is on the Gold Coast, maybe your local Aldi will have them as well. Ours is on special from 03.08.06. Brand is Power Craft, is a 4 stroke 196cc, fuel tank 15 litre consumption1.13litre per hour good for 13 hours continuous. Oil capacity 0.6litre. Rated power is 2000w but picture of the unit has a 2200 decal on the fuel tank. No `w` after the 2200. Could assume that this is `peak` power and 2000is normal output.
It`s mounted on a frame, weight is 49kg. No info on noise level. Maybe a caveat emptor situation. Regards G.T.
P.S. I don`t work for Aldi.
